Inside the Manaslu Trek Expedition
Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world and is protected under the Manaslu Conservation Area project. At 8156 meters, Manaslu is slowly gaining popularity among the trekking and adventure enthusiasts. Located in the Mansiri Himal zone of the Himalayas, Manaslu was first climbed in the year of 1956. This region retains much of its Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition and remains untouched in most of the part.

The influences of Aryan and Buddhist cultures make the traditions of Manaslu very rich and can be seen in the multiple monasteries and abundance of prayer wheels. The Manaslu region is also rich in biodiversity and boasts of eleven different types of forest and the elusive snow leopard. The Manaslu Expedition is a great example of high-altitude expedition in Nepal and is a rigorous trek up to the peak making it difficult to people without prior experience of mountain climbing.

The Manaslu expedition allows trekkers to experience a variety of landscapes. It has snow peaked mountains, deep gorges, glaciers, lakes and is in the laps of mountains such as Ganesh, Himchuli, and Kutunji. The bio-diversity, the mountains, and the culture make Manaslu an ideal spot for developing ecotourism.

The Manaslu expedition begins from Arughat alongside the river Burigandaki till Sama Gaon where we will acclimatize for a day and then head up towards the Base Camp. The Manaslu Expedition takes you through ancient salt trading routes in the footsteps of old explorers. This trek has some breathtaking valleys with Lush grasslands and spectacular views of the mountains.

Known for our high-altitude expeditions, we Amble Himalaya Treks are the experts of mountain guiding and high altitude adventures. Day 14-40: Manaslu expedition climbing period

The Climbing period of Manaslu is 27 days long. During these days we will follow the routine of reaching camp 1 and return back to base camp, moving on to camp 2 and returning to base camp, reaching camp 3 and return back to base camp. This is mainly to acclimatize to the high altitude and prevent the body from altitude sickness. Altitude sickness creeps in slowly and many lose their lives during the climbing seasons of Nepal. Living in the base camp is accompanied by the crew members who play important role in making the ascent a success. Much of the success of mountaineers definitely must go to the porters and guides without whom Himalayan expeditions are impossible. The final week of the expedition will involve reaching camp 3 and attempt to climb the summit. The main summit of Manaslu is pretty small and can accommodate no more than 2 people during this time. If all goes well and we are blessed with a good weather, you will be successful in climbing the 8th highest mountain in the world. This is no small feat as mountains above 8000m altitude are the ferocious and difficult climb. Once the attempts have been made, we will move back to camp 2 and next day head to Sama Gaon.
41

Day 41: Trek to Sama Gaon after the Manaslu expedition (3525m) (6-7 hours)
