Bhutan offers a lot of monuments and sites to go sightseeing like Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, Punakha Dzong, Semtokha Dzong, National Museum of Bhutan, Paro Taktshang and more. The modern capital of Bhutan, Thimpu has Tango Buddhist Institute which is perfect for experiencing the true Buddhist influence.
5 Days Bhutan Cultural Tour is ideal to enjoy sightseeing and observe the local lifestyle of Bhutan closely. Your journey will begin with a flight from Kathmandu, Nepal to Paro, Bhutan followed by a drive to Thimpu where you spend overnight. For the second day of the tour, you will reach Punakha from Thimpu via driving. Although it is quite a remote area, passing through Dochu La with glimpses of Himalayas (peaks) and rhododendron forests along the way make it an incredible journey.
The third day of this tour takes you back to Paro from beautiful Punakha by driving for around three and half hours. The day will be spent sightseeing some major cultural attractions of Paro. The fourth day of the tour you will hike to the famous Paro Taktshang, also known as “The Tiger’s Nest”. Next morning, you will take a flight and return back from Paro to Kathmandu. Rest of this day will be spent exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites around Kathmandu Valley.

Bhutan Cultural Tour Itinerary
You need to catch an hour-long flight from Kathmandu to Paro. Upon landing at Paro, you will drive for about an hour and twenty minutes to reach Thimpu, a modern capital city of Bhutan. You can visit Buddha Dordenma and Tashichho Dzong (fortress) throughout the day.
Your destination for the day is Punakha which can be reached from Thimpu after driving for approximately two and half hours. Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan, has many salient features including Punakha Dzong which is also dubbed as “Palace of Great Happiness”.
It takes you about three and half hours to reach Paro from Punakha via driving. Paro has the oldest Dzong in Bhutan, Semtokha Dzong which was built in 1627. Besides that, Paro has tons of places like National Museum of Bhutan, Paro Taktsang, Kyichu Lakhang and The Royal Botanical Park.
One of the absolute important monuments of Paro is Paro Taktsang, a sacred Buddhist site located in the Cliffside of the upper valley of Paro. It is also known as “The Tiger’s Nest”. This much-recommended visit takes up a full day including three to four hours of a hike to reach the monastery.
You will fly back to Kathmandu, Nepal from Paro. You can spend this day exploring local streets of Kathmandu on the way to UNESCO World Heritage Site like Pashupatinath Temple (sacred Hindu temple), Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath Stupa (the monkey temple).
