Paragliding is a recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing. The pilot controls the wing by shifting their body weight and pulling on steering lines attached to the wing’s trailing edge. Paragliding can be done solo or in a tandem configuration with a trained pilot. It is typically launched by foot from a hill or mountain, but can also be launched from a flat field or from the back of a vehicle
