The cultural prehistoric sites of Kathmandu represents architectural design, rich cultural treasures, and ancient histories. This world heritage site tour takes you through three medieval cities Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur visiting pagoda style temples, monasteries, stupas and three different royal palaces built by Malla kings in 12th to 18th century.
The 3-day world heritage site tour includes 7 places of Kathmandu valley; Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Changunarayan. This tour gives both historical and cultural significance of the various sites as Kathmandu valley is home to more than 50 temples, monasteries, and old royal palace.
Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar squares are the three royal palaces with artistic design and art, architecture, courtyard and pagoda style temple build with stones.
Near Bhaktapur there is Changunarayan Temple.This temple is also situated miles east of Kathmandu valley which is believed to be the oldest temple of Nepal, said to have existed since 325 AD.  Another world heritage site Boudhanath is the largest stupa of Asia. The stupa is whitewashed and 36 meters high.
Swayambhunath, also known as monkey temple is above a hill where we can overview Kathmandu Valley from the top. Since it is above a hill, a climb of 365 steps up in long stairs will take us to stupa and numbers of Hindu temples. Last but not least Pashupatinath 2km away from Boudhanath resides on the banks of Holy Bagmati River. Pashupatinath is the sacred main temple of Lord Shiva with pagoda style architecture.

World Heritage Site Tour Trip Itinerary

Our guide will take you to visit 3 places of UNESCO heritage site that includes Pashupatinath (Holy Hindu Temple of Lord Shiva), Boudhanath (Whitewashed, the largest stupa in Asia) and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple situated above hill). Overnight in Hotel.

  • Pashupatinath Temple: This Hindu temple complex is one of the most sacred places in Nepal and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Visitors can observe religious ceremonies and rituals, and see the cremation ghats along the Bagmati River.
  • Boudhanath Stupa: This massive Buddhist stupa is one of the largest in the world and is a center of Tibetan Buddhism in Kathmandu. Visitors can walk around the stupa, spin prayer wheels, and observe monks and devotees performing religious practices.
  • Swayambhunath Stupa: Also known as the Monkey Temple, Swayambhunath is a Buddhist temple and stupa that sits atop a hill overlooking Kathmandu. Visitors can climb the steep stairs to the top and enjoy panoramic views of the city

After breakfast, our guide will take you to two of three old royal palaces of Kathmandu Valley, Patan and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

  • Patan Durbar Square: This historic square in the heart of Patan city is home to many temples, palaces, and monuments that showcase traditional Nepali architecture and culture. Visitors can see the famous Krishna Temple, the Golden Temple, and the Patan Museum.
  • Kathmandu Durbar Square: This ancient square was once the seat of the Nepalese royal family and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can see the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the Kumari Bahal (home of the living goddess), and the Taleju Temple.

We drive to Bhaktapur to visit the ancient Temple Changunarayan and Bhaktapur Durbar Square built by Malla Kings. Changunarayan is believed to be one of the oldest temples built in the 3rd Century.

  • Bhaktapur Durbar Square: This ancient square is one of the best-preserved examples of traditional Newari architecture and culture in Nepal. Visitors can see the 55 Window Palace, the Golden Gate, and the Nyatapola Temple.
  • Changunarayan Temple: This historic Hindu temple is located on a hilltop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Visitors can see ancient stone sculptures and inscriptions, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
