Bhutan Explore Tour Itinerary
You will take a flight from Kathmandu to Bhutan's Paro International Airport, which is considered one of the most scenic flights in the world. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide and then begin the drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive from Paro to Thimphu takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and offers stunning views of the Himalayas and traditional Bhutanese villages. Once you reach Thimphu, you will check into your hotel and have some time to rest and freshen up. In the afternoon, you can visit the Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in honor of Bhutan's third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. You can also visit the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress-monastery that serves as the administrative headquarters of Bhutan's government. In the evening, you can take a stroll around the city and explore the local markets and shops. Overnight in Thimphu.
On day 2 of your itinerary, you will have a full day to explore Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Here are some highlights of what you can do: Visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusum: This institute teaches traditional Bhutanese arts and crafts, such as painting, sculpture, woodwork, and weaving. You can watch the students at work and even try your hand at some of the crafts. On day 3 of your itinerary, you will embark on a scenic 6-7 hour drive from Thimphu to Trongsa. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads, offering breathtaking views of the Bhutanese countryside and traditional villages. Along the way, you will pass through the Dochula Pass, which is adorned with 108 chortens (stupas) and offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range. You will also pass through the town of Wangduephodrang, known for its bamboo work and slate carving. As you near Trongsa, you will pass through the Pele La Pass, which offers even more stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Once you arrive in Trongsa, you can check into your hotel and relax for the evening. Overnight in Trongsa.

You will depart from Trongsa and drive to Bumthang, a scenic journey that takes approximately 3-4 hours. Bumthang is known as the cultural heartland of Bhutan and is home to many ancient temples and monasteries. Here are some highlights of what you can do: Visit the Jambay Lhakhang: This 7th-century temple is one of the oldest in Bhutan and is believed to have been built by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. Visit the Kurje Lhakhang: This temple is located in a cave and is believed to have been visited by Guru Rinpoche, who is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. Visit the Tamshing Lhakhang: This temple was founded in the late 15th century and features beautiful murals and paintings depicting the life of Guru Rinpoche. Visit the Jakar Dzong: This fortress-monastery dates back to the 17th century and is one of the largest in Bhutan. It is the administrative headquarters of Bumthang district. Day six includes sightseeing in Bumthang. Covered with ancient cultural architects, Bumthang has Jakar Dzong, Kurje Lhakhang, Jambey Lhakhang, and Tamshing Lhakhang. After driving for 6 or 7 hours, you reach Punakha to spend the night.
You can spend the final day in Bhutan shopping for souvenirs, before transferring to Paro Airport. You will then take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu from Paro. As per your interest, you can spend rest of the day exploring Kathmandu Valley.
