Druk Path Trek is a short trek of 8 days that takes you from the crowded city of Kathmandu to the beautiful valley of Paro. The trails lead you through the quiet parts of Bhutan with a pristine landscape that accompanies you throughout. You first visit the ruins of Jele Dzong, which can give you some idea of how Buddhism is practiced in Bhutan. Then, the trek walks mostly through yak pasturelands and yak herders’ settlements to reach Jangchulakha and the stunning Jimilang Tsho.

Walking past several small yet beautiful lakes and crossing Phume La Pass (4200m), you arrive in Phajoding Monastery, one of the most prominent monasteries of the region that now struggles to thrive. The stunning peaks of snow-capped mountains like Gangkhar Puensum (7570m), Jomolhari (7326m), and Jitchu Drake (6662m) can a witness during the trek. Day 04: Trek 4-5 hours from Jimilang Tsho to Simkota Tsho (4110m)

Day 05: Trek 3-4 hours from Simkota Tsho to Phajoding (3750 m)

Day 06: Trek 3-hours from Phajoding to Motithang (1130m)

Day 07: Drive back to Paro Airport and back to Kathmandu

Druk Path Trek Itinerary

You will take a flight from Kathmandu, Nepal to Bhutan's Paro airport. The flight offers spectacular views of the Himalayan range, including Mount Everest, so be sure to have your camera ready. Upon arrival in Paro, you will be greeted by your guide and driver who will accompany you throughout your trek. After a brief orientation, you will begin your trek from Paro to Jele Dzong, which is a gradual climb through blue pine and fir forests. The trek will take around 4-5 hours, covering a distance of approximately 10 km and ascending around 1000 meters. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and see local people going about their daily lives. Upon reaching Jele Dzong, you will set up camp for the night. Jele Dzong is an ancient fortress that offers panoramic views of the Paro Valley and the surrounding mountains. In the evening, you can explore the area and relax while enjoying a delicious dinner prepared by your trekking crew. Overnight in Jele Dzong.

You will continue your trek from Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha. The trail will take you through forests of rhododendrons and junipers, and you will have the opportunity to spot various birds and wildlife along the way. You will also pass by several yak herders' camps and can see how these hardy animals are used for transportation and food in the mountains. The trek will take around 4-5 hours, covering a distance of approximately 10 km, and ascending around 700 meters. You will cross the Jele La Pass (3,490 meters), which offers stunning views of the Paro Valley and the distant Himalayan peaks. After crossing the pass, you will descend into a beautiful valley and then ascend gradually to reach Jangchulakha (3,770 meters), where you will set up camp for the night. Jangchulakha offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Jhomolhari, which is Bhutan's second-highest peak.

You will trek from Jangchulakha to Jimilang Tsho, which is a beautiful high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The trek will take around 4-5 hours, covering a distance of approximately 11 km, and ascending around 100 meters. Along the way, you will pass through dwarf rhododendron forests and open yak pastures, and you will have the opportunity to spot various birds and wildlife, including the Himalayan monal pheasant, which is Bhutan's national bird. You will also cross several small streams and see the mountain streams that feed into Jimilang Tsho. Upon reaching Jimilang Tsho (3,870 meters), you will set up camp for the night. The lake is surrounded by lush grassy meadows and is a popular spot for fishing and picnicking. In the evening, you can take a short hike around the lake and enjoy the serene beauty of the area. Your trekking crew will prepare a hot meal for you, and you can rest and relax while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. We will camp nearby the lake for the night.

From Simkota Tsho, you will begin trekking with a gradual climb. An amazing view of Gangkhar Puensum (7570m), the highest mountain in Bhutan which is also famous as the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. Passing through yak herders' settlements and a small lake, you will reach Phume La Pass (4200m) which is decorated with prayer flags. Crossing the pass, you will descend towards Phajoding Monastery which used to be the most celebrated monastery in Bhutan but is now enlisted as one of the endangered cultural monuments. Overnight camp above the monastery to stay the night.

You will trek from Phajoding to Motithang, which is a small village located on the outskirts of Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The trek will take around 3 hours, covering a distance of approximately 7 km, and descending around 2,620 meters. The trail will take you through forests of blue pine and rhododendrons, and you will have the opportunity to spot various birds and wildlife along the way. You will also pass by several small villages and farms, giving you a glimpse into the rural life of Bhutan. Upon reaching Motithang (1,130 meters), your trek will come to an end. You will say goodbye to your trekking crew and enjoy a hot shower and a good night's rest in a comfortable hotel. You can also explore the capital city of Thimphu and visit its many landmarks and attractions, such as the Buddha Dordenma statue, the Tashichho Dzong, and the National Memorial Chorten. You can also shop for traditional Bhutanese handicrafts and souvenirs in the local markets. Overnight in Thimphu.

you will drive back to Paro airport from Thimphu, where you will catch a flight back to Kathmandu, Nepal. The drive from Thimphu to Paro takes around 1.5 hours, and you will pass through scenic landscapes and traditional villages along the way. Once you reach Paro airport, you will check in for your flight back to Kathmandu, which takes around 1 hour. During the flight, you can enjoy stunning aerial views of the Himalayas and the beautiful landscape of Bhutan. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can rest and relax after your trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.
